If you're a qualified accountant who still enjoys getting into the detail, but wants a role where you're also trusted to step back, see the bigger picture and influence how a business develops... this role could be a strong match.

You'll join an established, growing business as Finance Manager, taking genuine ownership of the day-to-day finance function while working closely with the senior leadership team to improve financial reporting, controls, forecasting and processes.

The business is going through an exciting period of development, with a digital transformation programme underway, improvements to systems and MI planned, and a real focus on developing people internally. You'll have plenty of opportunity to put your own stamp on the finance function and help shape how it operates going forward.

What they're looking for:

  • A technically strong accountant who is comfortable with the fundamentals - double entry, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and controls.
  • Someone who's happy being hands-on rather than purely managing from a distance.
  • A commercially minded accountant who wants to understand what the numbers are actually telling the business.
  • Someone who takes ownership, uses their initiative and isn't afraid to challenge how things are done.
  • Someone who fits a genuinely open, approachable and people-focused culture.

Iโ€™m in my final year doing Economics and I donโ€™t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer โ€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donโ€™t need a masters. Letโ€™s look at the ones youโ€™d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet โ€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
