About Syntelligence AI
Syntelligence AI builds network-native security services that protect voice and messaging traffic for telecom users. Our Trust Platform combines pre-call scam detection, AI call-screening and real-time in-call protection, and is being deployed with some of the largest mobile operators in the world.
We are a joint venture backed by five founding telco operators. We are at an early, fast-moving stage, building the commercial and operational foundations of the company as we scale.
The Role
We are looking for a commercially astute Finance Manager to own our finance function. Today our finance work runs through an external accountancy firm; we want to bring day-to-day ownership in-house while keeping them for statutory accounts, tax, and audit. You will be the person who creates our financial strategy, knows our numbers, produces our management accounts, manages the accountant relationship and gives the leadership team and board the financial picture they need to make decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is a broad role with real ownership from day one. It is deliberately scoped to grow: we want someone ambitious who can build the function and step up to Head of Finance as the business develops. There is also room to get involved in wider operational work on an ad-hoc basis.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly management accounts: month-end close, reporting, and a clear view of performance against plan.
- Support fundraising, pricing, and commercial modelling as the business scales, including our revenue and ARR models.
- Build and maintain our cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and scenario modelling, and keep the leadership team ahead of the numbers.
- Own our finance data and systems, making sure we have clean, reliable data we can use for projections, spend analysis, and board reporting.
- Manage the relationship with our external accountants, drawing the line between what we do in-house and what stays with them.
- Get involved in broader operational tasks as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
- Experience running or owning a finance function, ideally as a Financial Controller or in a comparable role, with full ownership of management accounts and month-end.
- Experience of working closely with commercial and strategy teams to develop revenue and cost models and financial projections.
- Strong on cashflow forecasting, budgeting, and financial modelling and comfortable turning messy data into a clear picture.
- Confident managing external accountants and knowing where their work should start and stop.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and broad scope, and happy to be hands-on in a small, early-stage company.
