The Salisbury Museum shares the story of a unique landscape that has been a centre of continuous human activity for over half a million years. Located in the medieval King’s House opposite Salisbury Cathedral, the museum offers a rich program of exhibitions, events, and learning experiences. Its collections include internationally significant finds from Stonehenge, which help bring the narrative of the landscape and its people to life. Role Description

Salisbury Museum is seeking an experienced Finance Officer to join our team at a pivotal moment in our organisational development.

Following our £5.1 million redevelopment – supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund – we're building on significant success and looking to strengthen our finance function. This is an opportunity to play a key role in a mission-driven cultural organisation.

About the Role

21 hours per week | competitive salary

You'll manage all aspects of our financial operations: accounts reconciliation, payroll administration, VAT and Gift Aid returns, and financial reporting. Working within a small, collaborative team, you'll be central to our operational success.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a Finance Officer or equivalent in a busy office environment
  • Proficiency with Xero (essential) and knowledge of VAT and payroll processing
  • Excellent numeracy, organisational and IT skills
  • Strong communication and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly within a team environment

  • Experience in the charity or heritage sector
  • Knowledge of membership database systems
  • Interest in museums and local history
