Finance Officer

Compensation: £28,682 - £32,187 / year


Description

Permanent contract, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Monday - Thursday 8:30 - 5 pm
Friday - 8:30 - 4:30 pm

Join Our Finance Team

Bath College is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Officer to provide comprehensive financial and administrative support within our Finance Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional, particularly someone with strong purchase ledger/accounts payable experience, to play a key role in supporting the College's financial operations.

About the Role

As Finance Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining financial records, supporting reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and procedures. You will work closely with suppliers, staff and other stakeholders to deliver an efficient and customer-focused finance service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing supplier invoices, payments and purchase ledger transactions.
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice and payment queries.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end finance processes.
  • Assisting with bank and control account reconciliations.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and audit trails.
  • Ensuring compliance with College financial regulations and procurement procedures.
  • Building positive relationships with colleagues, suppliers and external stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • An AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience working in a finance or accounts environment.
  • Strong purchase ledger/accounts payable experience.
  • Experience of invoice processing, reconciliations and resolving financial queries.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and finance systems.
  • Excellent numerical, organisational and communication skills.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and excellent customer service.

Ideally you will have at least one of the following:

  • Experience within the education sector.
  • Knowledge of VAT processes and regulations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookups.
  • Be working towards a Level 4 accounting qualification.
