Temporary Finance Officer - Sheffield
Immediate start, ongoing role
37 hours per week (flexible for part-time options)
Hays are working in partnership with a welcoming and friendly school in Sheffield to recruit a dedicated Finance Officer. This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive school environment where you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the school's finances.
Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the day-to-day financial operations of the school, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and effective financial administration.
- Processing purchase orders, invoices, and payments
- Reconciling accounts and maintaining accurate financial records
- Supporting budget monitoring and financial reporting
- Managing income collection and banking procedures
- Liaising with suppliers and resolving invoice queries
- Assisting with month-end and year-end financial processes
- Supporting payroll administration where required
- Ensuring compliance with school financial regulations and procedures

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous finance experience, ideally within a school or public sector setting
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
- Experience using financial systems and Microsoft Excel, ideally FMS experience
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work independently
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
- A recognised finance qualification, such as AAT, would be highly desirable, although candidates with strong relevant experience will also be considered.
