Finance Officer – Agriculture & Operations
We’re working with a well-established agricultural business to recruit a Finance Officer to join their team. This is a hands-on role within a busy operational environment, ideal for someone who enjoys being close to the day-to-day running of a business and understanding how finance supports operational performance. You’ll work closely with Finance and Operational teams across management accounts, budgeting, purchasing, stock, suppliers and cost control. The role would suit someone who is AAT qualified, studying towards an accountancy qualification or qualified by experience, with an interest in agriculture, farming, food production or FMCG.
The Role
Finance & Management Accounts
- Support weekly and monthly management accounts.
- Ensure financial information is accurate and up to date.
- Record and allocate labour, purchasing, stock and operational costs.
- Support month-end, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow.
- Review actual costs against budgets and investigate variances.
- Work with operational managers to understand financial performance.
- Support audits and maintain accurate records.
Purchasing, Suppliers & Cost Control
- Support purchasing and supplier management.
- Build strong supplier relationships.
- Monitor pricing and identify opportunities to control costs.
- Monitor equipment hire and ensure equipment is returned when no longer required.
- Work with operational managers on purchasing and expenditure.

Stock & Operations
- Monitor stock levels and purchasing requirements.
- Work with operational teams to understand lead times.
- Maintain accurate stock and purchasing records.
- Investigate cost variances and understand their impact on margins.
Systems & Reporting
- Maintain accurate financial and operational records.
- Use Excel and finance systems to analyse costs and produce reports.
- Support improvements to finance processes and reporting.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- AAT qualified, studying towards an accountancy qualification or qualified by experience.
- Experienced in management accounts or financial reporting.
- Commercially aware with a good understanding of budgets and costs.
- Strong with Excel and financial systems.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with purchasing, suppliers and operational teams.
- Confident investigating variances and asking questions.
- Practical, proactive and willing to get involved.
- Ideally experienced within agriculture, farming, food production or FMCG.
