Salary: £26,016 per annum (pro rata for part time)

Hours: 37 hours per week, flexible working options available

Your role and responsibilities

As part of the Financial Assessment Team within Adult Social Care, you will play a vital role in ensuring adults receiving care and support services are charged accurately and fairly. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Completing financial assessments to determine whether individuals are required to contribute towards the cost of their care, ensuring assessments are accurate, fair and compliant with relevant legislation and statutory guidance.
  • Ensuring correct billing for adults receiving care and support services by issuing accurate invoices and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Processing payments to residential and nursing care providers, ensuring external providers are paid accurately and on time.
  • Responding to enquiries from colleagues, service users and care providers, providing clear information, guidance and support.
  • Supporting vulnerable adults who access social care services due to long-term and/or complex health conditions, delivering a professional, customer-focused service.

You will need

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual who can bring:

  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and sensitively.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
  • Strong record-keeping and case management skills.
  • Resilience and professionalism when dealing with challenging situations.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and supporting vulnerable people.

The team

The Financial Assessment Team is part of Suffolk County Council's Financial Inclusion and Advice Service (FIAS), playing a key role in supporting adults who receive care and support services. We help ensure people are charged fairly and accurately for the care they receive by carrying out financial assessments in line with the Care Act and national charging regulations.

Our work makes a real difference to some of Suffolk's most vulnerable residents, providing clear advice and support while ensuring individuals understand their financial responsibilities and entitlements.
