Finance & Operations Associate

Alterna Search has partnered with a dynamic and fast-growing investment fund to appoint a commercially minded Finance & Operations Associate.

With a distinctive mandate within the investment ecosystem, the firm has built impressive momentum since inception, successfully raising capital, expanding its portfolio, and establishing a strong market presence. As the business enters its next phase of growth, this newly created role offers a rare opportunity to join an ambitious investment platform at a pivotal stage in its journey.

This is a rare opportunity for an recently qualified accountant to step beyond audit and gain hands-on exposure to the inner workings of an investment fund, developing a unique blend of financial, commercial, and strategic experience that can accelerate a long-term career in the investment industry. Working with lean founding team, you will gain broad exposure across fund finance, portfolio analysis, investor reporting, fundraising, and strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities

Fund Financial Management

  • Lead fund financial management, reporting, and operational finance activities.
  • Manage relationships with service providers, auditors, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and reporting.

Investor Relations & Fundraising

  • Deliver investor reporting, presentations, and performance updates.
  • Respond to investor queries and support stakeholder engagement.
  • Assist fundraising activities, including due diligence and data room management.

Portfolio Analytics, Valuations & Investment Support

  • Monitor portfolio performance, analysing financial and operational KPIs.
  • Produce investment analysis, valuations, and management reporting to support decision-making.
  • Track investment performance and provide insights to senior leadership.
  • Support portfolio reviews, valuation processes, and investment monitoring.
  • Contribute to strategic investment projects and initiatives.

Process Improvement & Business Growth

  • Enhance financial processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
  • Support the adoption of AI, systems, and reporting tools.
  • Develop scalable processes and best practices to support growth.

Requirements

We are seeking an outstanding recently qualified ACA or ACCA professional from a Big Four or leading mid-tier audit background. You will combine strong technical accounting skills with commercial awareness, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive mindset. Experience auditing funds, private equity, asset management, or investment vehicles is advantageous, but not essential.
