Finance Operations Lead

The Opportunity

My client is a fast-growth Payments brand who following significant growth, are launching a new payments platform and are looking for an experienced Financial Operations Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping how finance and money movement operate as the business scales.

This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who has come from management accounting, financial control, finance operations or treasury and wants to take that expertise into a fast-moving payments environment. You’ll have genuine ownership from day one. You’ll help define the financial architecture behind merchant money flows, from posting rules and reconciliations through to safeguarding, settlements and controls.

If you’re someone who enjoys getting into the detail and wants to build rather than inherit processes, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

What You’ll Own

Ledgers, Posting & Fund Movements

  • Own the daily posting of transactions across safeguarding, operational, settlement and reserve accounts.
  • Apply accurate debit and credit entries for merchant receipts, payouts, fees, reserves, reversals and adjustments.
  • Maintain clean, well-structured ledgers with a robust audit trail.
  • Manage intercompany and inter-account postings with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Define, document and continuously improve posting rules across different fund types.

Reconciliation & Financial Controls

  • Run daily reconciliations across bank statements, internal ledgers, acquirer settlement files and merchant balances.
  • Investigate reconciliation breaks, identify root causes and drive them through to resolution.
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity across client and operational money accounts.
  • Produce daily treasury, reconciliation and funds-position reporting.
  • Support safeguarding calculations and ensure client funds are appropriately identified and reported.
  • Own and strengthen controls around payments, approvals and fund movements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

  • Payments or Fintech experience, managing high-volume transaction data
  • Strong background in management accounting, financial control, finance operations or treasury
  • Double-entry accounting: You’re completely comfortable with debits, credits, journals and correcting errors while preserving a clear audit trail.
  • Reconciliations: You’ve reconciled high-volume data across multiple sources and know how to investigate a break rather than simply flag it.
  • Posting rules & controls: You understand how transaction logic translates into accounting entries and how to build controls around it.
  • Balance sheet ownership: You understand month-end, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet integrity and what good financial control looks like.
  • Enjoy being hands-on rather than managing from a distance.
  • Can explain complex financial movements clearly to Product, Engineering and Operations colleagues.
  • Enjoy working in a high-growth environment where you can have a visible impact.

Why Join?

This is a chance to join a growing payments business at a point where the foundations are being built. You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Own a critical finance function rather than inherit a finished process.
  • Shape the controls, processes and architecture that will support future scale.
  • Have direct visibility and impact across the business.
  • Develop into a broader finance leadership role as the organisation grows.
  • Participate in the long-term success of the business through equity/options.
