Position: Finance Operations & Credit Executive

Summary
Cobalt Recruitment is partnering with an established property and professional services business to recruit a Finance Operations & Credit Executive for its London-based finance team.
This is a varied opportunity combining credit management, accounts receivable and wider finance operations. You will help maintain healthy cash flow, resolve client account queries, and ensure financial information is processed accurately.
Working closely with clients, finance colleagues, and teams across the business, you will take ownership of key receivables activities while gaining valuable exposure to reconciliations, financial controls, month-end processes, and audit support.
This role would suit a proactive finance professional who enjoys solving problems, building relationships, and managing a varied workload. It offers an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience and develop within a collaborative and commercially focused finance function.
The role
- Contact clients by telephone and email to follow up on overdue invoices
- Build positive client relationships and manage payment discussions professionally
- Investigate invoice queries and help resolve disputed charges
- Work with billing and operational teams to improve invoice accuracy
- Monitor the accounts receivable inbox and respond to requests promptly
- Process customer refunds after completing the required checks
- Allocate incoming payments accurately to customer accounts
- Investigate unidentified payments and clear outstanding account items
- Maintain accurate customer and debtor information within the finance system
- Help prepare and distribute monthly customer statements
- Provide clients with approved payment information when requested
- Keep business information updated across customer and supplier portals
- Complete credit checks and prepare reports when required
- Record payments received through different methods
- Assist with bank and balance-sheet reconciliations
- Update supplier payment details and complete independent verification checks
- Provide information and documentation in response to audit requests
- Support month-end activities and other regular finance processes
- Assist with projects and ad hoc requirements across the wider finance team
- Identify practical opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency

About you
- Previous experience in credit control, accounts receivable, transactional finance, or a similar role
- Experience working with sales and purchase ledgers
- A good understanding of cash allocation and customer account management
- Reconciliation experience would be beneficial
- Confident communicating with clients about invoices and overdue payments
- Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail
- Able to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution
- Organised and capable of managing several priorities and deadlines
- Self-motivated, practical, and comfortable taking ownership of tasks
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service and relationship-building abilities
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience using accounting, ERP, or financial reporting systems
- An interest in using technology and AI to improve finance processes
- Collaborative, dependable, and committed to producing accurate work
