IN A NUTSHELL

Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager, the Finance Operations Team Leader will oversee a team of four direct reports, providing day-to-day leadership of purchase and sales ledger activities, banking, and cash management. The role places a strong emphasis on supporting and developing team members, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring high standards of accuracy, performance, and engagement across the team.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

  • Ownership of maintaining finance operations standard processes and identifying areas of inefficiency and reporting back to the Finance Operations Manager.
  • Day to day management of the sales and purchase ledgers, including monthly ledger reviews to identify any balances that need investigating or actions taken.
  • KPI reporting and management including reviewing the GRNI and Amazon tasks on a weekly basis, escalating any performance and resource risks to the Finance Operations Manager.
  • Produce monthly functional reporting to provide insight into operational performance and areas of control risk.
  • Overseeing the Accounts Assistants day to day, monitoring accuracy of postings and managing workloads to ensure all AP & AR tasks are completed in line with month end deadlines.
  • Management of treasury tasks and processes.
  • Ownership of weekly cash forecast including presentation at the weekly cash flow meetings to Accounting, Control and Treasury Director.
  • Reviewing weekly payment runs and supporting with creating where needed.
  • Control and management of bank reconciliations required to be completed by the AR department, ensuring completion and any required actions taken.
  • Support with raising payments on HSBC for ad hoc payments as required.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Manage direct reports’ performance appraisals, absence management and supporting to achieve their OKRs.
  • Final stage testing of any new systems and processes for operational sign off.
  • Communicating with both internal and external stakeholders, following up any queries in a timely manner.
  • Supporting AP & AR Accounts Assistants with their duties, providing training where needed.
  • Completing ad hoc duties as requested by the company.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Proven experience leading a small finance operations team
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel and accounting systems
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounts or finance role
  • Comfortable working to tight deadlines with a proactive, can-do approach
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Able to work independently with strong ownership and accountability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal ability
  • Thrives in a target-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy
