Role Description
The Finance Oversight role is a full-time on-site position based in Nottinghamshire, responsible for supporting the financial integrity and stability of British Championship Basketball. The role involves:

- Monitoring and reviewing financial transactions
- Preparing and analyzing financial statements
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting for the organization and associated programs

Day-to-day tasks include:
- Reconciling accounts
- Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes
- Ensuring adherence to internal controls and relevant financial regulations
The individual will collaborate with operational and leadership teams to provide clear financial reports, identify risks and opportunities, and contribute to informed decision-making. The role also includes:
- Preparing documentation for audits
- Responding to financial queries from stakeholders
- Helping to develop best practices in financial management within the organization
Qualifications
- Strong Finance and Accounting skills, including experience with budgeting, reconciliations, and general ledger management.
- Ability to interpret and prepare Financial Statements, with a sound understanding of financial reporting standards and compliance requirements.
- Solid Analytical Skills to evaluate financial data, identify trends, and support evidence-based recommendations.
- Effective Communication skills to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders and collaborate across teams.
- Relevant professional qualifications or progress toward them (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) are beneficial, along with proficiency in common accounting software and spreadsheet tools.
- Experience in sports, non-profit, or event-based organizations is advantageous, as is a demonstrated commitment to ethical financial practices and attention to detail.
