About the role

We have an amazing opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Payroll Assistant to join our fast-paced, fun, vibrant office located in Warrington town centre. Our location comes with great transport links to bus and train stations.

Due to the growth in our business and increased workloads we are looking to strengthen our team with an organised & detail-driven Payroll Assistant to work alongside the existing team in the day-to-day running of the department.

As a Payroll Assistant you will be organised, proactive, and professional.

This is an opportunity to join a business where no two days are the same. You'll play a key role in supporting our payroll and finance functions, helping to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes while working alongside a supportive and experienced team. As Payroll Assistant you will report directly into the Payroll & Purchase Ledger Manager whilst having the support from the whole Finance Team.

Job description

As a Payroll Assistant you will be organised, proactive, and professional!

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Processing weekly payroll accurately
  • Processing and checking new starter information
  • Resolving payroll queries efficiently and proactively
  • Maintaining accurate employee and financial records to ensure compliance
  • Processing supplier invoices and payments
  • Coding invoices to the correct nominal ledger accounts
  • Ledger reconciliations
  • Month-end support
  • Processing timesheets in line with company procedures
  • Building positive relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders
  • Supporting the Finance Team with additional projects and ad-hoc duties as required

Monday to Friday, day shifts (45 hours)

Salary £29,500 - £31,000 per year.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Positive, enthusiastic, and eager to learn
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
  • Confident using Microsoft Excel and other computer systems
  • Experienced in a finance, accounts, or payroll role (minimum 1-2 years’ experience preferred)
  • Familiar with reconciliations and financial processes
  • Experienced using accounting software such as Xero (desirable)
  • Able to manage their workload effectively and meet deadlines
  • A strong communicator with a professional and friendly approach
  • A team player who enjoys supporting others
  • Proactive, reliable, and solutions-focused
