Finance & Payroll Assistant

Due to continued growth, we're looking for a Finance & Payroll Assistant to join our friendly and ambitious team based in the heart of Warrington town centre, with excellent transport links to both bus and train stations.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-paced business where no two days are the same. You'll play a key role in supporting our payroll and finance functions, helping to ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes while working alongside a supportive and experienced team. As Finance & Payroll Assistant you will report directly into the Payroll & Purchase Ledger Manager whilst having the support from the whole Finance Team.
What You'll Be Doing
As our Finance & Payroll Assistant, you'll be responsible for:
- Processing weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Gathering and checking new starter information
- Resolving payroll queries efficiently and proactively
- Maintaining accurate employee and financial records to ensure compliance
- Processing supplier invoices and payments
- Coding invoices to the correct nominal ledger accounts
- Ledger reconciliations
- Month end support
- Processing timesheets in line with company procedures
- Building positive relationships with colleagues, suppliers and stakeholders
- Supporting the Finance Team with additional projects and ad-hoc duties as required

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Positive, enthusiastic and eager to learn
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and other computer systems
- Experienced in a finance, accounts or payroll role (minimum 1-2 years’ experience preferred) with AAT Level 2 qualification or equivalent would be ideal. QBE or part qualified.
- Familiar with reconciliations and financial processes
- Experienced using accounting software such as Xero (desirable)
- Able to manage their workload effectively and meet deadlines
- A strong communicator with a professional and friendly approach
- A team player who enjoys supporting others
- Proactive, reliable and solutions-focused
