Base Location

You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Perth, Glasgow or Reading

Salary

£59,800 - £89,800 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern

The role

The Finance Planning and Analysis Senior Manager will lead the FP&A team within our SSEN Distribution business and be accountable for the delivery of all consolidated financial plans, forecasts and performance reporting. This role will ensure finance drives strategic decision-making through robust scenario planning, high-quality analysis and efficient coordination of core financial processes. You'll be instrumental in defining and implementing planning processes that meet the needs of a growing and increasingly complex organisation. This role reports to the Head of Business Partnering.

You will work closely with the Distribution Business senior stakeholders, Directorate Finance teams, Regulatory Finance, Financial Control, and the wider SSE Group Finance team to ensure consistency, clarity and control across all financial planning and reporting activities. You'll be responsible for driving a forward-looking, insight-led culture that ensures the business can make informed and timely decisions

You will

  • Lead the end-to-end annual planning and budgeting process ensuring alignment with business strategy and regulatory obligations as well as develop and manage a rolling forecast and reforecasting cycle that supports both long-term planning and short-term agility.
  • Own the delivery of the monthly management information pack, ensuring accuracy, consistency and insightful commentary on performance, risks and opportunities and support the Senior Leadership with board-level reporting, ad hoc performance deep dives and performance updates.
  • Provide a broad range of insightful business analysis in order to facilitate decision making and identify potential improvement opportunities including scenario planning.
  • Own key business wide capex and opex forecasts to feed into the 10-year plan, regulatory returns and commercial sensitivities and deliver scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Set and own the timetables, governance and process standards for all planning and reporting activity.
  • Lead and develop a FP&A team of finance professionals, creating a high-performing, collaborative culture and work closely with Business Partnering, Financial Control and Regulatory Finance to align timelines, assumptions and outputs across the function.

You have

  • A fully qualified accounting certification with substantial previous experience in a FP&A management role.
  • Experience in interpreting and assimilating multiple data sources, including external market and regulatory data, and rendering into meaningful insight and appropriate recommendations and clear actions.
  • A strong background in a project driven business with understanding of contract management, project delivery and financial planning related this.
  • Effectively communicated financial performance to senior colleagues to ensure optimal decision making within the business.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects/processes simultaneously
