Finance Product Development Accountant

Milton Keynes (Hybrid Working)
Contract until December 2026

Are you a qualified accountant with a passion for transformation, systems development, and driving change? Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Product Development Accountant to join a major organisation within the automotive financial services industry, supporting the delivery of a significant business and technology transformation programme.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the implementation of new contract management systems, accounting and reporting platforms, and payment processing solutions, helping to shape the future of finance operations within a complex and highly regulated environment.

The Role

Working within the Finance Product Team, you'll act as the key Finance representative throughout the project delivery lifecycle. You'll collaborate with programme teams, business analysts, developers, testers, and senior stakeholders to ensure new systems and processes meet Finance requirements, maintain robust controls, and support efficient and compliant operations.

A key focus of the position will be supporting the delivery of a new contract management application for the corporate and fleet (B2B) business, while ensuring alignment across wider transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a Finance SME for core products, processes, and accounting structures.
  • Support the design and delivery of new finance system capabilities and applications.
  • Analyse financial impacts of system and process changes.
  • Define and support business requirements, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and controls.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, development teams, and testers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure key controls are embedded.
  • Assist with data migration, reconciliation activities, and process mapping.
  • Monitor the impact of operational changes on finance processes, reporting, and controls.
  • Build strong relationships with programme teams, stakeholders, and external suppliers.
  • Provide regular updates to Finance leadership and support decision-making and escalations.
  • Assist with training material creation and end-user training activities.

About You

We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting expertise with experience delivering change within a financial services environment.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualified (or equivalent qualified by experience).
  • Previous experience within financial services, ideally automotive or asset finance.
  • Strong understanding of SAP and contract management systems.
  • Knowledge of month-end processes, AP/AR, and transaction processing.
  • Experience supporting or leading transformation, change, or systems implementation projects.
  • Strong understanding of accounting reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders across multiple business functions.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment and manage competing priorities.

Desirable:

  • Experience with change management methodologies such as Prince2 or Six Sigma.
  • Exposure to large-scale finance transformation programmes.
