The Role: Finance Project Manager
We’re recruiting a Finance Project Manager (FPM) to join a major rolling stock programme. In this leadership role, you’ll partner with the Project Manager and the core team to oversee financial performance, manage risks and opportunities, and enable data-driven decision-making across a dynamic, multi-stakeholder project.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end financial performance (cost, revenue, margins, cash).
- Ensure accuracy in cost allocations, revenue recognition (IFRS 15 compliance), cash flow planning, and financial classification.
- Lead the framework for all financial processes:
- Budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Monthly performance reporting.
- Verify cost baselines and forecasts, bridging the gap between tendering and execution.
- Coordinate work package financial reviews across the project.
- Identify, analyse, and mitigate risks (cost, cash, margin exposure) while seeking opportunities for value creation.
- Foster consistent, robust financial reporting at a monthly level.
- Serve as a finance business partner, advising cross-functional teams on financial strategy.
- Uphold financial governance, compliance and reporting standards throughout the project lifecycle.
- Challenge assumptions to safeguard project financial health and anticipate risks.

About You
While we recognise that candidates may not possess every skill, here are qualities that will help you thrive:
- Experience in project finance, cost control, and forecasting.
- Background in large-scale or complex engineering/infrastructure projects.
- A track record of delivering financial performance in project environments.
- Strong understanding of financial metrics, reporting, risk analysis, and compliance.
- Technical proficiency in MS Excel and SAP.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- CIMA, ACCA or equivalent qualifications are desired but not essential.
