Job Title: Finance Project Manager
Location: York, Bristol
Duration: 6 Months
Inside IR35
This is a contract opportunity for someone who is an experienced Finance Project Manager with a strong track record of delivering complex finance and reporting initiatives within a large corporate environment. This role would suit a proactive individual who can quickly establish effective governance, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of critical financial reporting activities to demanding timelines.
You will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities, and driving accountability across finance teams and key business stakeholders. The successful candidate will be able to work autonomously while building strong collaborative relationships to ensure delivery of key reporting and planning milestones.
Key Responsibilities
- Reporting Cycle & Governance: Drive the planning, tracking, and execution of milestones against the Quarterly Financial Reporting Working Day Timetable (WDT).
- Specialized Financial Deliverables: Project manage the Assumptions Setting and Impact Assessment processes, as well as out-of-cycle reporting exercises (including IFRS Sensitivities, Internal View reporting, and Expected Return exercises).
- Operational Facilitation: Lead daily reporting stand-ups and project calls; capture actions, issues, and dependencies; and establish clear escalation channels for risks.
- Continuous Improvement: Plan and facilitate post-reporting debriefs, document lessons learned, and drive the implementation of process enhancements for future cycles.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the primary interface across Finance, Actuarial, Investment, Risk, and business leadership to ensure functional alignment and milestone delivery.
- Status & Reporting: Produce executive-ready status updates, dashboards, and PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
