Role Overview
This role will be responsible for the smooth running and end-delivery of all financial systems and with strong project expertise. The role will be responsible for managing system configuration changes, enhancements and working closely with the wider Technology, Finance and Transformation teams.
The Department
Mishcon has experienced a huge amount of growth in recent years and our success shows no sign of stopping. Our Technology team also continues to go from strength to strength and we are involved in some incredibly exciting and innovative initiatives across the firm. Rather than being considered a necessary support function, our Technology department is an integral part of the strategy of the firm, and this is reflected both by the level of tech investment and how Technology initiatives are discussed at the most senior level.
The Finance Systems Environment
The finance systems environment is a hybrid environment of on premise and cloud hosted systems comprised of the following applications which are managed by a team of 7.
On Premise
- Aderant ERP (Time Recording, Billing, Accounting, GL)
- Some integrations
- Intapp Matter Opening (managed by another team but integrated with Aderant)
Cloud
- Intapp Time (Mobile Time Recording)
- Chrome River (Expenses, Purchasing and Invoicing)
- Anaplan (FP&A, Budgeting, Forecasting and Planning)
- Integrations with firm's HR system (People Hub), BD system (Interaction) resource management system (Capacity) and MDM (Profisee)
- Ayora (AI based WIP Analysis and Proposal tool)
Duties And Responsibilities
Transformation
- Define and drive the product vision and strategy for finance systems, focusing on delivering measurable value for the business and ensuring strategic alignment with business goals ensuring it is fit for purpose both now and in the future.
- Drive the continuous improvement of the firm's financial systems, analytical and reporting capabilities and proactively identify opportunities for enhancements and improvements.
- Lead, optimise and successfully deliver future integration of financial data.
- Engage in multiple cross-departmental finance system projects. Requirement gathering through engagement with key stakeholders, workshops and consultation, to translate complex business processes and requirements into financial system changes, preparing financial process and dataflow documentation.
- Inputting into the design, build, implement and test of Finance Tech projects, including allocation of resources, development of UAT test plans and scripts and driving the UAT process. This includes projects in flight including the implementation of ODDR (bill distribution and collection) and the rollout of finance systems in future branch offices. It also includes future systems implementations for Treasury, Treasury Reporting, KPI Analysis and Cashflow.
- Stakeholder management; working efficiently and effectively with other functions e.g., acting as the 'bridge' between Finance, Transformation and Technology teams.
- Working with other systems teams to successfully deliver cross-functional changes.
- Management and oversight of key delivery partners including but not limited to Report Factory, Aderant, ODDR, Harbour, Intapp, Roox, Anaplan & Emburse.
- Support the wider Technology team with financial systems releases / upgrades. Ensure smooth transition to BAU of any newly deployed solutions / modules.
- Management of other systems integrations to the financial system.

BAU
- Supervision of month end and year end processes including triaging issues, reporting, reconciliations, analysis and testing.
- Responding to help desk tickets (data requests including changes to data, reporting, backend data management). This includes incident and problem management (second line support).
- Ensure access controls to the finance systems is in place and regular reviews are conducted and relevant documentations are up to date. This includes user access administration.
- System maintenance including patching, software updates and template updates.
Skills/Experience
- 8+ years' experience in Finance Systems (Aderant) gained in a large, international environment.
- Previous experience building-out / implementing / data migration with a financial / ERP solution.
- Familiarity with cross product integrations
- Experience managing hybrid environments consisting of on premise and cloud hosted applications.
- Experience of Microsoft Infrastructure stack.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and is able to elaborate technical concepts to non-technical colleagues. Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced IT skills i.e., writing macros in Excel, SQL and Microsoft Power BI.
- Strong Project Management skills.
- Experience in managing a team.
- Degree educated with an accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) desirable.
