The Crick is a place for collaboration, innovation and exploration across many disciplines. A space where the brightest minds can pursue big and bold ideas and discover answers to crucial scientific questions. We support them in a dynamic environment which fosters excellence with state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge facilities, and a creative and curious culture. We’ve removed traditional boundaries of departments, divisions and disciplines and instead have an open approach that supports every researcher. This gives us the freedom to take risks and carry out high-quality, pioneering research. Creating a space for discovery without boundaries helps us to turn our science into benefits for human health and the economy.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Finance Systems Analyst to help develop, support and continuously improve the systems that underpin Finance at the Crick.
Reporting to the Finance Systems Lead, you will work with the Finance Functional Leads and collaborate closely with People Systems, IT and ERP teams. Workday Financials will be at the heart of the role, alongside systems including Adaptive Planning, Worktribe, Power BI and Excel. Whilst you might not have experience with Workday, you must have experience with an equivalent finance system.
You will take ownership of day-to-day systems issues, troubleshoot complex problems and deliver system enhancements and projects that improve how our teams work. You will also help shape the longer-term development of our finance systems roadmap.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
