Financial Accountant – Fixed-Term Contract: 12 months

If you’re a Financial Accountant who enjoys improving how finance works as much as producing the numbers, this could be an interesting contract. We’re partnering with an established global investment management business that is strengthening its finance team during a significant accounting systems transition. The role combines two areas that don’t often sit together in a Financial Accountant position: ownership of core financial reporting and control, alongside hands-on involvement in a live systems migration. You’ll take responsibility for the accounting and reporting of a portfolio of corporate entities, while working across Finance, IT and external specialists to ensure financial data remains accurate, complete and controlled as the business moves to its new system.

What you’ll own Your remit will include:

  • Month-end close, journals, general ledger integrity and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Analysis of revenue, costs and variances, with responsibility for identifying trends, anomalies and risks
  • Quarterly reporting for Board-level review
  • Statutory accounts across multiple jurisdictions and management of the year-end audit for assigned entities
  • Coordination of tax and statutory filing requirements with external advisers
  • Reconciliation and validation of financial data between legacy and new accounting systems
  • Investigation and resolution of migration discrepancies
  • Testing of the new system, documenting outcomes and helping resolve issues before they affect financial reporting

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Ideally, hands-on exposure to a system implementation, transition or data migration

Why consider it? The appeal is the breadth as you’re not stepping away from technical accounting to work on a systems project, and you’re not joining simply to provide extra month-end capacity. You’ll maintain ownership of financial control and reporting while gaining practical experience of how a finance function manages a significant systems transition, including the testing, reconciliation and validation work that sits behind reliable financial reporting.
