We exist to create positive change for people and the planet. Join us and make a difference too! Job Title: Finance Transformation Lead – Project Costing & Profitability
Location: Covent Garden – Hybrid
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract

About the role:

BSI is undergoing an exciting global Finance Transformation as we implement SAP S/4HANA and establish more consistent, scalable ways of working across our Finance organisation.

We are looking for a Finance Transformation Lead – Project Costing & Profitability to play a key role in defining BSI’s future-state approach to project costing and profitability.

This is a highly visible role sitting at the intersection of FP&A, Commercial Finance, and Finance Transformation. You will lead the development of a globally consistent approach to Standard Cost Rates, helping BSI better understand the true cost and profitability of the services we deliver to our clients.

Rather than simply analysing existing costs, you will help shape the future model. You will work across the organisation to understand current practices, define clear and consistent costing principles, and translate these into an approach that supports project profitability, gross margin reporting, and better commercial decision-making.

Working closely with Commercial Finance, HR, and Transformation teams, you will build stakeholder alignment around the new approach and help ensure it can be successfully implemented, governed, and maintained within BSI’s future SAP S/4HANA environment.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a major global transformation programme, shaping an important area of Finance that will support greater consistency, transparency, and insight across BSI.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design of BSI's future-state global approach to Standard Cost Rates, project costing, and profitability.
  • Understand and bring together existing costing practices from across BSI and translate them into a streamlined and standardised global model.
  • Partner with FP&A, Commercial Finance, and business leaders to understand revenue and cost drivers and how they influence project profitability and gross margin.
  • Develop clear design principles for how resource costs should be calculated, governed, maintained, and applied across BSI.
  • Work with Commercial Finance teams to translate the agreed methodology into practical profitability cost rate cards.
  • Define ownership, governance, controls, and decision-making processes to ensure costing information remains accurate, transparent, and sustainable.
  • Partner with PSA/OTC teams to determine how employee cost data and rate cards should be maintained within Workday and integrated with SAP S/4HANA.
  • Facilitate workshops and discussions with senior stakeholders across different business units and geographies to build alignment around the future-state model.
  • Assess the change impact of moving from existing costing approaches to a globally standardised model and support successful adoption.
  • Establish a long-term governance framework, including ownership structures, review cycles, controls, and decision-making forums.
  • Ensure costing and profitability outputs provide meaningful insight that can support commercial and operational decision-making.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Ideally, previous experience developing or standardising a costing methodology or cost-rate approach across a complex organisation.
  • A strong understanding of how revenue and cost drivers come together to determine commercial profitability.
  • Experience of SAP S/4HANA or large-scale Finance Transformation would be beneficial, but deep systems expertise is not essential for this role; the priority is commercial finance and profitability expertise. This distinction was specifically highlighted during the recruitment briefing.
  • An accountancy qualification such as CIMA, ACA, or ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating complex financial concepts into practical solutions.
