Summary
We’re looking for a Finance SME to play a key role in one of the most significant transformation programmes at M&S. Working within our Finance Transformation team, you’ll help shape and deliver the future Order to Cash (O2C) model as part of our SAP S/4HANA greenfield implementation.
This is a highly visible role where you'll bring together Finance, Technology and Commercial teams to design and embed robust end-to-end processes covering everything from customer orders and revenue recognition through to billing, cash collection and reconciliation.
Ideally, you'll be a qualified accountant with strong SAP Finance experience and a deep understanding of Order to Cash processes, financial controls, revenue accounting and reconciliation. You'll balance commercial needs, customer outcomes and financial integrity while helping to create scalable processes that support both our retail and B2B operations.
Post the 3 year programme there will be further projects, as M&S continues to transform and drive change. There will be a variety of options including the Master Data team, the Continuous Improvement team as well as the roles in the Technology teams supporting Finance.
To stay close to customers, our support teams are in the office three days a week as we believe that skills are developed through collaboration, and that spending time together makes us more creative and connected.
What you’ll do
- Act as the Finance SME for Order to Cash, designing future-state processes across retail and B2B customer journeys. Post design, support testing, readiness, cutover and early life support, ensuring Finance data is accurate, controlled and embedded into future ways of working.
- Define requirements covering revenue, billing, cash collection, refunds, credit management and financial controls.
- Ensure effective integration between Finance, SAP, order management, payment and customer systems.
- Drive process improvements that deliver strong governance, accurate reporting and an excellent customer experience.
- Post the programme there will be further projects, as M&S continues to transform and drive change. There are a variety of options including the Order to Cash team, the Continuous Improvement team as well as the roles in the Technology teams supporting Finance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
