An exciting opportunity has arisen for a technically strong and commercially minded Financial Accountant to join a growing and purpose-led organisation.
This is a key role within the finance team, reporting directly to the Head of Finance and supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls, and continuous process improvement.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role across financial reporting, month-end processes, income management, audit preparation, business partnering, and finance systems optimisation.
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to strategic initiatives while helping drive efficiency, automation, and best practice across the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End
- Lead month-end close activities, ensuring timely completion of reconciliations, journals, and reporting.
- Prepare and review management accounts and financial analyses.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management activities.
- Assist with board and stakeholder reporting, providing meaningful financial commentary.
- Support year-end audits and act as a key contact for external auditors.
Finance Operations
- Oversee income management processes and support achievement of collection targets.
- Manage financial transactions, reporting accuracy, and compliance procedures.
- Review payment runs and maintain robust financial controls.
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.

Systems & Process Improvement
- Support the administration, enhancement, and optimisation of finance systems.
- Drive improvements in automation, reporting, and finance processes.
- Assist with system upgrades, testing, and implementation projects.
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and controls.
Business Partnering
- Build strong relationships across the organisation.
- Support budget holders with financial information and decision-making.
- Promote financial awareness and understanding among non-finance stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively across departments to improve processes and performance.
About You
I'm looking for a proactive and solutions-focused finance professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with excellent systems capability.
Essential Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Sage Intacct is highly preferred and will be a significant advantage in this role.
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial controls experience.
- Experience preparing management accounts, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Lookups, and financial modelling.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with cloud-based finance systems.

Desirable
- Experience with expense management or purchase order systems such as Webexpenses or Zahara.
- Experience within membership organisations, charities, property, BID, not-for-profit, or similar environments.
- Experience supporting systems changes, upgrades, or finance transformation projects.
