Financial Accountant (10 month FTC)
Location: Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (Hybrid)
The Role
We are looking for a qualified and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Central Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Financial Reporting Manager, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, compliance activities, forecasting, and analysis for both our UK and Irish operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working in a technical accounting environment, collaborating across the business, and supporting strategic financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare VAT returns for the Irish branch.
- Coordinate with external advisers on Irish corporation tax filings.
- Prepare tax forecasts, transfer pricing reports, and payments on account for Irish operations.
- Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and the external audit process.
- Assist with corporation tax compliance and tax schedules.
- Maintain and update the chart of accounts and central finance documentation.
- Support the preparation of half-year and full-year reporting packs.
- Assist with balance sheet and cash flow forecasting activities.
- Compile and submit regulatory and ONS returns.
- Coordinate management accounts, reforecasting processes, and related submissions.
- Perform testing to ensure compliance with internal controls frameworks.
- Reconcile data between accounting and group reporting systems.
- Support balance sheet improvement initiatives and key reconciliations.
- Contribute to ad hoc financial projects, reporting, and analysis.
Your Skills & Experience
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Post-qualification experience within a finance function in a commercial organisation.
- Experience in a technical accounting or financial reporting role would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, including FRS 102 and/or IFRS.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
