Financial Accountant

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team based in Howden, East Yorkshire on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. Reporting to the Head of Financial Planning and Control, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust balance sheet controls, and supporting the Quality and Aftersales functions through effective business partnering.

Responsible for period-end accounting, warranty provision management, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements, you will provide timely financial insight that supports sound decision making and business performance.

What will I be doing as a Financial Accountant?

  • Own the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting processes for the Quality & Aftersales cost centres, providing accurate financial plans that support operational decision-making.
  • Prepare and review month-end accounting entries to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Partner with Quality and Aftersales management teams to improve understanding of financial performance, key drivers and variances.
  • Maintain warranty provisions and accounting standards to ensure appropriate financial statement recognition.
  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and associated controls, investigating discrepancies to ensure financial integrity and compliance.
  • Develop and improve financial controls to ensure compliance with corporate governance, statutory requirements and audit standards.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by providing information, analysis and control evidence.
  • Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and disclosures, ensuring compliance with reporting obligations.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of financial processes, controls and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

What do I need to qualify for the Financial Accountant role?

  • Fully qualified in CIMA, ACCA, ACA, or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • A minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience gained within industry or a chartered accountancy practice.
  • Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data.
  • Experience of working with SAP would be desirable.
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
  • Confident communicating financial information to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
