Financial Accountant, EMEA & AP
Role Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring statutory compliance, tax and VAT management, audit coordination, insurance administration, and accurate financial reporting across multiple legal entities within the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and AP (Asia Pacific) regions.
The role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work with both internal stakeholders and external advisors across multiple jurisdictions. The Financial Accountant will play a key role in maintaining compliance with local statutory requirements while supporting the wider finance team's objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory Accounting & Compliance
- Prepare and coordinate annual statutory financial statements for assigned legal entities.
- Ensure compliance with local accounting regulations and statutory filing requirements across EMEA and AP jurisdictions.
- Liaise with external accountants, tax advisors and company secretarial providers.
- Manage statutory filing calendars and ensure all submissions are completed accurately and on time.
- Support legal entity governance activities and maintain statutory records.
VAT & Tax Compliance
- Manage VAT/GST returns and associated compliance obligations for multiple international entities.
- Coordinate indirect tax registrations, filings and audits where required.
- Partner with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
- Support the preparation and review of corporate income tax calculations and tax provisions.
- Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess the impact on regional entities.
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and related compliance requirements.

Audit Management
- Act as the primary finance contact for external statutory audits.
- Coordinate audit planning, timelines and deliverables across multiple jurisdictions.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation and financial analysis.
- Manage requests from auditors and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.
- Track audit findings and support implementation of corrective actions where applicable.
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors and service providers.
Insurance Management
- Coordinate global and local insurance renewals across EMEA and AP entities.
- Maintain insurance schedules and ensure coverage remains appropriate for business operations.
- Work with brokers and insurers to obtain necessary policy documentation.
- Support the management and reporting of insurance claims.
- Assist with risk assessments and insurance compliance requirements.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of financial accounting records.
- Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.
- Assist with regional reporting requirements and ad hoc financial analysis.
- Monitor and improve financial controls and compliance processes.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting, compliance and reporting processes.
- Enhance documentation of key controls and procedures.
- Support finance transformation initiatives and system improvements.
- Contribute to the standardisation of processes across international entities.
Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of relevant VAT, Tax & Audit experience.
- Experience in multicurrency consolidation for UK Statutory reporting
- Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and statutory reporting requirements.
- Experience coordinating external audits.
- Knowledge of financial controls and compliance frameworks.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Exposure to ERP systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, Avalara, Tableau
- Experience supporting entities across EMEA and Asia Pacific.
- Understanding of international tax and transfer pricing principles.
- Strong technical accounting expertise.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines across different jurisdictions.
- Strong project management and organisational skills.
