Location
Hybrid working with 1-2 days spent in our Support Centre and 3-4 days working from home per week.

Become a Financial Accountant
The Financial Accountant is a key member of the Financial Reporting team, supporting the Senior Financial Reporting Manager and wider team in delivering accurate, timely and well-controlled financial reporting.
The role is responsible for the delivery of month-end reporting, reconciliations, balance sheet control and statutory reporting support across a number of areas. The role will take ownership of a defined portfolio of GL accounts and reporting processes, ensuring that financial information is accurate, well supported and delivered in line with reporting deadlines.
Working closely with the Financial Accountant, the role will support interim and year-end reporting, external audit activities and process improvement initiatives, whilst developing technical accounting knowledge and experience. The role will prepare and analyse financial information and provide high-quality supporting documentation.
Your Mission
- Own designated month-end accounting and reporting areas, ensuring all journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve reconciling differences.
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
- Take ownership of assigned balance sheet areas including accruals, prepayments, payroll, intercompany balances and other reporting areas.
- Support property and fixed asset accounting activities as required.
- Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for interim and year-end reporting.
- Support the preparation of subsidiary accounts, annual report disclosures and statutory reporting requirements.
- Assist with the external audit process by preparing supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
- Produce variance analysis and provide insight into financial performance and movements.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Review financial data for accuracy and completeness prior to submission for management review.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting efficiency.
- Provide support across the wider Financial Reporting team as required.

Skills/Behaviours That Will Set You Apart
Required
- At least three years’ experience within a similar role in a financial reporting or financial accounting environment.
- Experience of month-end accounting processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills and ability to analyse large volumes of financial data.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Desirable
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Retail industry experience.
- Experience supporting statutory audits.
- Exposure to fixed assets, stock accounting or financial reporting.
- Experience using ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Exposure to IFRS reporting requirements.
