Financial Accountant

TEXO Recruitment are currently looking for a Financial Accountant for our external client in Durham. The accountant will join the financial department and play a key role in ensuring the integrity of the Group's financial reporting and statutory compliance. You will lead the year-end audit process, prepare statutory filings, and support the continuous improvement of financial processes and controls across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements in accordance with UK accounting standards (FRS 102)
  • Manage all statutory reporting requirements and ensure timely submission of filings with regulatory bodies in accordance with the compliance calendar
  • Play a key role in the external audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors and coordinating responses across the business
  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and resolve audit queries efficiently
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial reporting and statutory obligations
  • Support the preparation of corporation tax information and liaise with external tax advisers
  • Prepare company VAT returns
  • Prepare monthly Group board management information pack
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the Group's financial control environment
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, and financial control activities where required
  • Understanding and oversight of key commercial contract reporting
  • Provide technical accounting support and guidance to the finance team where required, including where updates in regulatory or accounting policy impact the Group

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
  • Experience preparing consolidated statutory accounts under UK GAAP (FRS 102)
  • Experience leading or managing external audits.
  • Previous experience within construction, engineering, or contracting sectors.
  • Experience in preparation of corporation tax returns for a group of companies
  • Experience delivering finance process improvement or automation initiatives.
