About Mprove

Mprove partners with NHS Integrated Care Boards across England to deliver expert NHS Continuing Healthcare and All Age Continuing Care services. Founded in 2020, we are clinically led and ethically driven: our most recent recovery programme completed 3,120 reviews and identified £25m in annual savings for the NHS. We are a Crown Commercial Service supplier, Cyber Essentials Plus certified and NHS DSPT compliant, and we are growing quickly.

The role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Accountant will support the CFO in maintaining accurate financial records, delivering timely management information and strengthening financial controls across Mprove. This is a hands-on role covering month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, statutory compliance and day-to-day finance operations. You will work closely with operational teams to ensure financial information is complete, reliable and useful for decision making.

Key responsibilities

  • Month-end and financial reporting: prepare and post accruals, prepayments, journals and other month-end adjustments; support the preparation of monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with commentary on material variances; maintain robust reconciliations for all key balance sheet accounts; review revenue and contractor costs with operational teams; produce schedules and analysis for the CFO, Board and management team.
  • Transactional finance and cash management: oversee accurate customer invoicing and cash allocation; maintain the aged debtor ledger and support credit control; ensure supplier invoices, contractor payments and expenses are authorised, coded and processed correctly; complete bank, credit card and payment platform reconciliations; assist with invoice finance reconciliations and funding reports.
  • Tax, payroll and statutory compliance: prepare VAT reconciliations and returns; review payroll information and reconciliations; prepare schedules for year-end accounts, corporation tax and audit; maintain records in accordance with UK accounting requirements and internal policies.
  • Controls, systems and process improvement: operate and improve controls across revenue, purchasing, payments and payroll; maintain accurate data in Xero and connected systems; identify opportunities to simplify, automate and document finance processes; build effective relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers and external advisers.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
