Toshiba Europe is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our Smart Metering Finance team based in Staines-upon-Thames. The role supports the Financial Controller in delivering accurate financial accounting, treasury management, month-end reporting and financial controls across the business. The position covers a broad range of financial accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, treasury, VAT and balance sheet reconciliations.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional looking to broaden their expertise in a varied and hands-on finance role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the financial accounting operations for the Smart Metering Division.
  • Manage and maintain accounts payable, accounts receivable and inventory accounting activities.
  • Process invoices, expenses and payment runs in both domestic and foreign currencies.
  • Manage treasury activities including cash book maintenance, bank reconciliations, cash forecasting and cash position reporting.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, perform reconciliations and support annual asset verification exercises.
  • Prepare and reconcile month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet accounts.
  • Support VAT returns and maintain VAT accounting records.
  • Assist with audit requests and support continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.
  • Support intercompany accounting and recharging activities across the wider Toshiba Europe organisation.

About You

We are looking for someone who can combine technical accounting knowledge with strong organisational, communication and accuracy skills.

Essential

  • AAT qualified or equivalent accounting experience.
  • At least five years' practical accounting experience.
  • Experience working with computerised accounting systems. (Oracle would be desirable.)
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and work to strict deadlines, particularly during month-end and year-end periods.
  • Experience of VAT accounting, treasury functions and fixed asset management, would be desirable.
