Financial Accountant

Salary: £52,934.85 per year
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Ipswich / Hybrid
Ref: IP335

Make an impact beyond the numbers

We're looking for a talented Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in a varied and influential role that combines financial reporting, audit leadership, regulatory compliance, treasury activities, and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll play a key role in ensuring the organisation's financial integrity, leading external reporting and audit processes, supporting strategic projects, and driving improvements across finance systems and procedures. You'll also have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to the wider success of the organisation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, influencing change, and developing their expertise within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the external audit process and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Preparing and submitting regulatory returns.
  • Managing key balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
  • Supporting treasury activities and inter-company transactions.
  • Identifying and implementing process and system improvements.
  • Supporting wider finance activities and deputising for the Head of Finance when required.

Qualifications…

  • Leadership qualification or willingness to gain a qualification in the Orwell Academy.
  • Senior accountancy qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent work experience.
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in Maths and English Language is essential. A minimum of AAT qualified (or equivalent) is essential.
