Manchester | Hybrid | £55,000 to £60,000 plus bonus and benefits
A fast-growing, acquisitive property technology business is looking to appoint a Financial Accountant to join its newly established Manchester finance function.
This is a hands-on role with genuine scope to shape how the finance function operates as the group continues to grow through acquisition.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting, month-end preparation and consolidation across a growing group of entities.
The Opportunity:
This is not a Financial Accountant role focused purely on reporting.
Initially, you will spend time working closely with an established finance team to understand and document existing processes before bringing them into the group's Manchester finance function.
You will then have the opportunity to improve, simplify and automate these processes as the business continues to scale.
The role will also provide exposure to acquisitions and integration, with responsibility for bringing new entities into the group's finance systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage transactional finance across the group, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and credit control
- Complete bank, client account, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and intercompany entries
- Prepare monthly management accounts for review by the Financial Controller
- Support group consolidation across multiple entities
- Take ownership of the accounting for overseas and joint venture entities
- Support the onboarding and integration of newly acquired businesses
- Document existing finance processes and identify opportunities to improve and automate them
- Support claims, provisions, and associated reconciliations
- Assist with statutory accounts, audit, VAT, and payroll
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure month-end processes are completed accurately and on time

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Why Consider It?
This is an opportunity to join a growing business at an important stage of its development.
Rather than inheriting an established finance function, you will have the opportunity to help build it, improve processes, and introduce greater automation as the group expands.
