Role: Financial Accountant (ideal 1st move from practice)

Reporting to: Finance Director

Location: Chorley

Salary: circa £50,000

Medlock Partners are currently working with a growing and well-established and hugely profitable Service business based in Chorley as they look to appoint a Financial Accountant to join their finance team.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, with the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of accounting responsibilities.

This is a hands-on position for someone who wants to move beyond producing accounts for clients and instead become closely involved in the financial performance and operations of a growing and successful business.

  • Overseeing day-to-day financial transactions and ensuring the integrity of the accounting records
  • Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
  • Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations
  • Overseeing purchase and sales ledger transactions
  • Monitoring cash movements, payments and receipts
  • Supporting VAT and other statutory reporting requirements
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Investigating variances and providing insight into financial performance
  • Supporting the Finance Director with ad-hoc analysis and commercial projects
  • Helping to improve financial processes, controls and reporting as the business continues to grow

This is an ideal role for practice trained candidates who are making their first move from practice into industry. Candidates currently operating at Accounts Senior, Assistant Manager or similar, with experience across accounts preparation, month-end, reconciliations and general accounting.

Candidate requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified, recently qualified or nearing qualification
  • Experienced in preparing accounts and working with a variety of financial transactions
  • Comfortable working with large volume data and investigating discrepancies
  • Commercially minded and keen to understand the wider business behind the figures
  • Confident communicating with senior stakeholders
  • Organised, analytical and able to manage your own workload
