Intro

A private equity-backed marketing business is seeking an Interim Financial Accountant to support its finance team through a busy audit period. The role will take ownership of core BAU financial accounting and audit support, allowing the existing team to maintain progress on a number of priority projects.

The Company

An established, private equity-backed marketing business operating in a fast-paced and growing market. The group has an experienced finance function supporting a broad range of commercial activity. Finance is managing a demanding workload across audit delivery, day-to-day reporting and project activity, with this interim adding capacity while maintaining the accuracy and control of routine finance processes.

The Role

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, the Interim Financial Accountant will manage key BAU activities around the audit and provide reliable, well-supported financial information throughout the assignment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of BAU financial accounting activity during the audit period
  • Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and resolving outstanding items
  • Investigating and explaining actual-to-budget and period-on-period variances
  • Maintaining clear supporting schedules and audit evidence
  • Responding to auditor queries and coordinating information from the wider finance team
  • Supporting the month-end close and ensuring reporting deadlines are met
  • Identifying and correcting accounting discrepancies
  • Providing ad hoc support to the Group Financial Controller and wider finance team

Your Profile

  • Qualified accountant with one to two years of post-qualification experience
  • Trained within a Top 10 accountancy firm
  • Ideally completed at least one role in industry since leaving practice
  • Strong grounding in financial accounting, reconciliations and variance analysis
  • Comfortable working hands-on in a busy, deadline-led finance environment

Compensation & Benefits

This 6-9 month interim role offers a day rate of up to £425 per day, dependent on experience, and is inside IR35. The position is based near Holborn and requires three days per week in the office. It provides the opportunity to support an established group finance team through a busy audit and project period.
