The role requires a full understanding of accounting for a complex global organisation with multiple entities, functions and currencies as well as strong technical skills in consolidations and statutory financial reporting.

Role Description

Reporting to the Financial Controller EMEA, you will have the opportunity to work within a team that is core to the global finance function. A good all round grounding in business finance and opportunity to lead on the EMEA consolidation and preparation of statutory financial statements.

The team works closely with senior members of the firm and budget holders providing exposure to senior management.

The team itself has a wealth of experience and comprises qualified and training accountants. The team is constantly looking to improve its work and processes.

This role will offer responsibility, supervision of staff and exposure to complex work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monthly Management Accounts

    • Preparation and review of monthly modified cash management accounts in the global reporting currency; this will include variance analysis; balances reviews and narrative
    • Month end and year end close meeting tight deadlines of 3 working days
    • Prepare and maintain monthly schedules including GL reconciliations
    • Understand and maintain/book journal for both the modified cash and accrued ledgers
  • Managing Expenditure

    • Monitoring the accurate allocation of expenditure across the firms various locations to facilitate compliance with Transfer Pricing requirements
    • Working closely with colleagues across the global department to ensure accurate recording of expenditure
    • Working closely with colleagues within the Finance and Accounting team both within the EMEA region and the USA as required to ensure accurate recording of expenditures and assisting the Commercial Finance team with the investigation of budget differences

  • Annual Reporting and Audit

    • Production of the accrued EMEA consolidated financials and associated audit leads for individual business units and statutory accounts
    • Assistance with the global cash modified audit supporting EMEA queries
    • Confident in dealing with external auditors and making accounting decisions / providing support
  • Management Information Reporting and Development

    • Assist the global Finance & Accounting team in the development and maintenance of management reports
    • Preparation of VAT returns for the EMEA region
    • Produce ad-hoc financial reports for individuals across the global business
  • General Support

    • Support the team to deliver its objectives and to increase financial awareness across the firm including assisting where necessary in project work

Key Relationships

  • Working with the Financial Planning & Accounting team reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager.
  • Working with key budget holders and Financial Controller

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience of group consolidated Accounting for Partnerships and statutory accounts essential
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or international equivalent) with at least 3 years post qualification experience
  • Experience of working in the legal services industry or a similar industry with multi-national currency bookkeeping is desired
  • Experience of Elite 3E desired
  • Excel skills (pivot tables, sumifs, vlookup etc) essential
  • Strong problem solving and analytical solving skills
  • The willingness to develop wider systems skills and to create efficiencies in the production of management information
  • Self-motivated, organised and professional individual with the ability to adapt to demands and to work effectively as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
