Hush - Financial Accountant

Hush is an ambitious and distinctive fashion brand, with plans to double the business over the next few years. Founded 21 years ago, we are now established as one of the UK’s leading online fashion retailers. We employ around 140 employees across head office and retail, creating and selling a beautiful range of women’s clothing and accessories characterised by effortlessness, simplicity and a laidback sense of style. Despite the challenges to the retail industry, Hush has continued grow – and our company culture still reflects our entrepreneurial roots and relaxed aesthetic. We love hard-working and talented people with a can-do attitude and a passion for what they do.

We're looking for a Financial Accountant

This is a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant with 2+ years' relevant experience, gained either in industry or practice, who wants to broaden their financial accounting experience in a fast-paced retail business.

You'll gain broad exposure across stock accounting, VAT, month-end reporting and financial controls, while working closely with teams across the business and developing your understanding of financial accounting within a growing retail brand.

What you'll be doing

Reporting to our Lead Financial Accountant, you'll play an important role in maintaining strong financial controls and ensuring the accuracy of our financial reporting. You'll gain broad exposure across the finance function, working closely with teams across the business and identifying opportunities to improve processes and drive efficiencies.

You'll:

  • Manage stock accounting and reporting, ensuring accurate stock valuation and strong financial controls.
  • Prepare UK and international VAT returns and complete VAT reconciliations.
  • Review monthly payroll, journals and reconciliations, working closely with HR and our payroll provider.
  • Support the month-end close through balance sheet reconciliations, fixed asset accounting and financial reporting.
  • Support cashflow forecasting and contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Partner with Buying, Merchandising, Operations and Customer Services to provide financial insight and support business performance.
  • Support audits, ERP developments and wider finance process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
  • Embrace AI and automation to improve efficiency and ways of working.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About you

We're looking for someone who is keen to develop their career in financial accounting and enjoys working across a broad range of finance activities. You'll be technically strong, curious and keen to develop your experience within a growing, fast-paced business.

  • Part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA, or working towards a recognised accounting qualification, with 2+ years' relevant experience gained in industry or practice.
  • Experience in financial accounting or accountancy practice, with exposure to areas such as accounts preparation, month-end, reconciliations, VAT, audit or other core financial accounting processes.
  • Experience beyond purely transactional finance, with a good understanding of core financial accounting principles.
  • Experience within a retail, wholesale, ecommerce or other stock-based business would be an advantage, but is not essential.
  • Good understanding of VAT, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end accounting. Experience of stock accounting would be desirable, but we are open to candidates who have strong technical accounting skills and are looking to develop this area.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be an advantage.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with confidence building relationships across the business.
  • Curious about technology and excited by opportunities to use AI and automation to improve ways of working.
