Four days in the office.

Summary of the Role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Accountant (ACCA/ACA) will support the delivery of accurate balance sheet reporting, statutory accounts, audit schedules, and financial control activity across the organisation. This role is intended for a newly qualified accountant who is looking to develop strong technical accounting, reporting, and business partnering experience within a varied finance environment. The post holder should be proactive, organised, and comfortable working across month-end, year-end, and ad hoc finance projects.
Place of Work
The primary office is located in Hatfield, although there may be occasional travel required to other locations.
Main Responsibilities / Duties:
- Prepare LLP and statutory accounts, including year-end audit schedules, opening balance adjustments, and prior-year comparatives.
- Manage and maintain the statutory reporting process, including reporting workbooks and supporting schedules.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations with appropriate backing documentation and follow up reconciling items promptly.
- Act as the first point of contact for audit queries, liaising with auditors and advisers as required.
- Support the annual budget process by preparing schedules, reviewing inputs, and analysing movements.
- Review and support VAT return preparation, ensuring relevant documentation is retained.
- Assist with bank reconciliation reviews and payment authorisations as required.
- Help maintain financial controls by reviewing processes and identifying improvements.
- Respond to ad hoc queries and information requests from colleagues and senior stakeholders.
- Undertake other duties as required by the Financial Controller and wider business.

Person Specification:

- Newly qualified accountant, or finalist nearing qualification; ACA, ACCA, or CIMA preferred.
- Sound understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and year-end processes.
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting workbooks, reconciliations, and reporting schedules.
- Good attention to detail with the ability to produce accurate, well-presented work to deadlines.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with a willingness to get involved across all areas of the Finance team.
- Confident communicator who can work with colleagues across finance and non-finance teams.
- Able to problem solve, prioritise workload, and operate effectively in a changing environment.
Key Working Relationships:
- Financial Controller and wider Finance team.
- Senior stakeholders requiring reporting, analysis, and finance support.
- External auditors, tax advisers, and other professional advisers as required.
