Interim Financial Accountant | 6-Month FTC | Hampshire
We are working with a well-established organisation in Hampshire that is looking to appoint an experienced Financial Accountant on an initial 6-month fixed term contract.
This is a hands-on financial accounting role, ideal for a fully qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant who can quickly get up to speed and take ownership of key financial reporting and year-end activities.
You'll work closely with the wider finance team, supporting the delivery of accurate financial reporting while playing a key role across year-end statutory accounts, audit and core financial accounting activities.
The Role
As Interim Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and financial statements.
- Managing and supporting the year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Acting as a key point of contact for external auditors, providing supporting schedules, documentation and resolving audit queries.
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring financial information is accurate and complete.
- Supporting the preparation of monthly management and financial reporting.
- Performing key month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
- Supporting VAT, corporation tax and other statutory reporting requirements where required.
- Reviewing financial information and investigating variances and anomalies.
- Ensuring appropriate financial controls and accounting policies are maintained.
- Supporting improvements to financial accounting processes and reporting.
- Working collaboratively with the wider finance team on ad hoc financial accounting and reporting projects.

About You
We're looking for a technically strong Financial Accountant who can operate independently and make an immediate impact.
You'll ideally have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification with strong post-qualified experience.
- Proven experience across financial accounting and statutory reporting.
- Strong hands-on experience preparing or supporting year-end statutory accounts.
- Previous experience working directly with external auditors and managing audit queries.
- Strong understanding of month-end and year-end close processes.
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
- The ability to quickly understand a new business, systems and processes.
- A hands-on, proactive approach and the ability to work effectively within a busy finance team.
- Previous experience in an interim or fixed-term contract environment would be advantageous.
