What You'll Be Doing
The House of Commons is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant - Change & Improvement to provide senior technical accounting expertise across UK Parliament. You will play a key role in the Finance System Programme, helping shape the implementation of new financial systems while providing specialist advice to major programmes, investments and business cases.
This is a rare opportunity to apply your accounting expertise within an organisation with a uniquely complex financial landscape. From the Palace of Westminster and its heritage assets to a diverse property portfolio, you will navigate challenges that few other finance roles can offer.
As a trusted subject matter expert, you will advise senior leaders on accounting standards, tax, public sector guidance and budgetary treatment, while supporting statutory reporting, financial controls and compliance. You will work collaboratively across both Houses, the Parliamentary Digital Service, HM Treasury, HMRC and the National Audit Office.

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with an expectation of you spending 40% of your time in the office.

What We're Looking For
- Experience of preparing financial statements & a strong knowledge of public sector reporting.
- Significant experience in recognising and embedding process and control improvements.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationship with key stakeholders.
- Experience of delivering through others to ensure delivery targets are met to achieve a high-quality service.
