Financial Accountant - Automation
Location: Basingstoke/Hybrid
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract until 30 January 2027
We are looking for a qualified Financial Accountant to join our Finance team on a fixed-term basis. This role offers a unique blend of financial control, reporting, process improvement, and finance transformation.
Working closely with the Financial Controller and Transformation team, you will be responsible for the financial accounting of a major business unit while helping to identify, document, and support the automation of manual finance processes and reporting activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver month-end accounting, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and financial analysis.
- Produce management reporting, KPIs, balance sheet, and cashflow commentary.
- Complete and review balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and governance requirements.
- Support commercial analysis, pricing initiatives, and business decision-making.
- Process routine transactional accounting activities and daily refunds.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and accounting processes.
- Document existing processes and work with the Transformation team to implement automated solutions.
- Support testing, validation, and rollout of new processes and systems.
- Contribute to finance projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and wider transformation programmes.

Essential
- ACA, ACCA, or equivalent qualified accountant.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a finance or accounting environment.
- Strong month-end and financial reporting experience.
- Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
- Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting principles.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to document processes and drive continuous improvement.

Desirable
- SAP and/or Navision experience.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, BPC, or similar.
- Knowledge of Power Query, VBA, or SQL.
- Previous exposure to finance transformation, automation, or process improvement projects.
