Financial Accountant

As a Financial Accountant in the public sector, you'll manage financial records, ensure compliance with regulations, and support the preparation of financial reports. This temporary role is key to helping the organisation maintain accurate and transparent financial operations.

Client Details

This role is with a local authority, based in London.

Description

  • To maintain the integrity of the underpinning chart of accounts, balances and transactions to facilitate all aspects of statutory and management reporting.
  • Support the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external use.
  • To lead on Collection Fund, Revenue Accounting, Chart of Accounts, Balance Sheet Management, VAT and ensure the efficient and timely completion of all completion of related Returns (statutory or otherwise).
  • To complete statutory and non-government returns such as the NNDR1-3, CTR1, Revenue Outturn Returns and Whole Government Accounts.
  • Provide financial analysis and advice to support decision-making.
  • Assist with audits and liaise with auditors as required.

A Successful Financial Accountant Should Have

  • A professional accounting qualification or equivalent experience in accounting and finance.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting and local government regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.

Job Offer

  • Daily rate of £500 to £550
