14 Months FTC (Mid Nov-End of Jan). Nottingham based
Overview
We are seeking a Financial Accountant for a 14 month fixed-term contract to provide maternity cover, starting early November. Reporting directly into the Senior Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will benefit from a generous two month handover period and ongoing support throughout the assignment.
KNOWLEDGE: What You Know
- Professional Qualification: ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
- Education: Strong academic background, including GCSEs/A-Levels (or equivalent) in Maths and English
Systems Experience:
- Intermediate Excel proficiency (vlookups, sumifs, pivots)
- Proficient in other Microsoft Office tools
- Practical experience using enterprise accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Business Central, NetSuite, SAP, Xero, Sage, or similar ERP systems)
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES: Who You Are
- Highly analytical with exceptional attention to detail
- Able to take ownership and work independently, as well as part of a team
- The ability to maintain great relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work to tight deadlines with high levels of accuracy
- Looks for ways to improve and challenge current ways of working
EXPERIENCE: What You Have Done
- Audit background, with at least 3 years audit experience at a top 10 audit firm
- Experience auditing or working in a large privately owned business
- Experience working in a fast paced, constantly evolving business
- Industry experience post qualification preferred but not essential

SUCCESS: What we need you to do
- Ability to step into an established setup, learn our processes during handover and then take full, independent ownership
- Be a specialist with regards to accounting, company tax & audit
- Evaluate existing processes, identify & implement improvements
- Maintain high levels of integrity and conduct
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Control & Reporting
- Detailed monthly analysis of revenue, including the calculation of accrued revenue and provisions
- Monthly staff budget variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of the monthly management accounts and KPI reporting
Global and UK Tax Compliance
- Compiling and sending data to our tax advisors for monthly, quarterly and annual global tax filings
- Completion of quarterly UK VAT returns
- Analysis of staff entertaining to calculate the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) liability
- Liaise with professional advisors across the globe to ensure tax compliance
Audit and Payroll Operations
- Monthly payroll processing in the UK and other regions, managing pension and tax submissions (US, AUS, DE, IN)
- Key audit contact for external auditors on an overseas subsidiary, managing the process from planning to final signing of the accounts
