Are you a technically strong Financial Accountant looking for a role where you can make a real impact? At Heidelberg Materials UK, we're looking for a talented Financial Accountant to join our Group Financial Accounting team based in our modern Maidenhead office. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in IFRS reporting, statutory accounting, financial controls, and business partnering while working within a complex, listed international organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

As Financial Accountant, you'll play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting across our corporate entities.

Financial & Group Reporting

  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, budget and forecast reporting under IFRS using Tagetik.
  • Maintain and reconcile corporate ledgers, ensuring accounting records remain accurate and compliant.
  • Support month-end reporting processes and ensure all deadlines are achieved.
  • Review board minutes and prepare accounting entries for corporate transactions including dividends and entity restructuring activities.
  • Maintain reporting schedules and support group-wide financial calendar requirements.

  • Prepare and review statutory accounts under FRS 101 and FRS 102.
  • Manage annual accounts production using Caseware.
  • Coordinate submissions and ensure compliance with Companies House and HMRC requirements.
  • Work closely with auditors, directors, company secretarial teams and external advisors.
  • Support ongoing conversions from FRS 102 to FRS 101.

Technical Accounting & Compliance

  • Assist with impairment reviews, discounted cash flow modelling, and technical accounting assessments.
  • Support implementation of new IFRS standards and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition and IFRS 16 Leases.
  • Partner with environmental compliance specialists on provisions and reporting requirements.
  • Support non-financial reporting obligations, including SECR and Section 172 disclosures.

Controls & Business Partnering

  • Develop and maintain internal control documentation.
  • Provide technical accounting support to Tax, Treasury, FP&A and operational business teams.
  • Review property transaction documentation from an accounting perspective.
  • Support policy and procedure development across the business.
  • Respond to auditor requests and stakeholder queries efficiently and professionally.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an individual who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and UK statutory accounting requirements.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing statutory accounts under FRS 101 and/or FRS 102.
  • Experience working with auditors and managing year-end processes.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with SAP, Tagetik and/or Caseware.
  • Exposure to large corporate or multi-entity environments.
  • Experience supporting technical accounting projects and IFRS implementations.
  • Understanding of financial controls, corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
