Financial Accountant
North Cambridge | Up to £60,000 | Office-based, five days per week
The ONE Group is currently working with an established technology business in north Cambridge to recruit a qualified Financial Accountant. This varied role combines hands-on financial accounting with exposure to international operations and product development, offering plenty of scope to build your technical knowledge and work closely with teams across the business.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of key areas of monthly reporting while contributing to statutory accounts, audit and tax compliance. You’ll also work closely with colleagues in Operations, R&D and Product Strategy, understanding what sits behind the numbers and helping ensure the right accounting standards and procedures.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Owning stock accounting, provisions and inventory reporting, including analysis of stock turnover and actual costs against standards.
- Accounting for capitalised R&D projects, including capitalisation, amortisation and potential impairments.
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and preparing accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Reconciling sales and gross margin, maintaining deferred revenue schedules and assessing the accounting treatment of new products and services.
- Supporting UK statutory accounts and coordinating financial information for overseas subsidiaries.
- Working with external auditors and supporting corporation tax, R&D tax relief and Patent Box claims.
- Identifying opportunities to improve reporting and finance processes.

About you
You’ll be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, with a sound understanding of FRS 102, strong Excel skills and the ability to deliver accurate work against reporting deadlines.

You might already be working in industry and looking to broaden your technical experience. Alternatively, you could be making your first move from practice, bringing a strong grounding in audit or accounts preparation and an eagerness to learn.
Experience with stock, R&D activities, multi-currency reporting or Microsoft Dynamics 365 would be useful, but isn’t essential. A questioning mind, attention to detail and a willingness to work closely with colleagues across the business are key.
What’s on offer?
A salary of up to £60,000, a varied remit and the opportunity to develop your experience within an international technology business, with support from the Finance Manager and wider team. The role is based in north Cambridge and requires attendance in the office five days per week.
