About the Company

We are recruiting on behalf of a prominent business in Northampton seeking a technically strong Interim Financial Accountant to support their finance team through a critical period.

About the Role

This role is tailored for an ACA-qualified accountant trained in Big 4 or top-tier practice who brings robust technical accounting expertise, strong financial reporting skills, and a high attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Lead the preparation of statutory accounts under UK GAAP / IFRS and manage year-end audit files.
  • Technical Accounting: Resolve complex technical accounting queries, write technical accounting papers, and ensure full compliance with updated reporting standards.
  • Control & Governance: Balance sheet reconciliations, internal control assessments, and refining financial processes.
  • Audit Management: Act as the primary operational point of contact for external auditors during year-end or audit review periods.
  • Ad-Hoc Projects: Support the Group Financial Controller on technical integrations, system upgrades, or complex transactions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Qualification: ACA qualified (ideally first-time passes) trained in Big 4, top 10, or mid-tier audit/accounting practice.

Required Skills

  • Technical Expertise: Exceptional knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS / FRS 102).
  • Track Record: Proven interim experience delivering year-end statutory accounts, managing complex audits, or handling technical accounting fixes.
  • Presence & On-Site Requirement: Able to commit to 4 days per week in the office in Northampton.
  • Availability: Available on short notice (immediate up to 2 weeks).

Pay range and compensation package

  • Competitive day rate of £450 – £500 per day.
