Financial Accountant | Andover | £50,000

Hybrid working – 3 days in the office, 2 from home

Are you a newly qualified accountant or in the final stages of your qualification, looking for an opportunity where you can broaden your experience and accelerate your career within a supportive, growing business?

We're partnering with a growing and supportive organisation in Andover to recruit a Financial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative finance team where you'll gain broad exposure across financial reporting, business partnering and process improvement, with genuine opportunities to progress as the business continues to grow.

This role has been created with succession planning in mind, making it an ideal opportunity for someone with the ambition to develop into a more senior position over time.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider finance team, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls and providing valuable insight to support business decisions. You'll also have the opportunity to get involved in projects, improve processes and make a real impact across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial accounts, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
  • Managing month-end close activities, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register, ensuring additions, disposals and depreciation are accurately recorded.
  • Analysing financial performance, investigating variances and providing insightful commentary against budgets and forecasts.
  • Supporting the budgeting, forecasting and business planning process.
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns and ensuring HMRC compliance.
  • Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and supporting the external audit process.
  • Monitoring aged debtors and creditors, resolving outstanding balances and discrepancies.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and systems.
  • Supporting business projects, financial analysis and commercial decision-making.
  • Providing financial guidance to stakeholders across the wider business.
  • Assisting with finance system enhancements, testing and implementation.

About You

We're open to speaking with finalists and newly qualified accountants (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) who are looking for a role where they can continue to learn and develop.
