Anderson Knight are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join our client's Finance team. Working closely with the Finance Managers and Financial Controller, this key role is responsible for supporting the smooth running of the finance function through the delivery of accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, and effective team leadership.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in month-end reporting, balance sheet management, statutory accounts, cash flow forecasting, taxation, and audit coordination. This position combines strong technical accounting expertise with leadership responsibilities and requires the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across all levels of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Finance Managers and Financial Controller in delivering departmental objectives and ensuring the effective operation of the finance function.
  • Prepare and review key financial reports, including Profit & Loss accounts and Balance Sheets, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of monthly reporting packs.
  • Provide insightful variance analysis and commentary to support business understanding and decision-making.
  • Take full ownership of Balance Sheet management, ensuring all reconciliations are completed, reviewed, and appropriately substantiated.
  • Prepare and manage weekly cash flow forecasts to support treasury and working capital management.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of VAT returns, P11D reporting, and PSA submissions to HMRC.
  • Lead the year-end statutory accounts process and manage relationships with external auditors throughout the annual audit cycle.
  • Ensure all Group reporting requirements are delivered accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting capabilities to provide greater value and insight to the business.
  • Maintain robust financial controls and ensure finance processes remain documented, compliant, and aligned with internal and external audit recommendations.
  • Oversee the Sales Ledger and Credit Control functions, ensuring effective management of working capital and customer accounts.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental managers to provide meaningful financial information and support operational decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the finance function, identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting.
  • Support the wider business through the delivery of ad-hoc projects, analysis, and reporting as required.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA/CA or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable track record of career progression and increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong technical expertise in financial accounting, reporting, and taxation.
  • Experience of month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work effectively with senior management and external partners.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using financial systems.
