Role: Financial Accountant

Contract type: 9-12 month fixed term contract

Location: Solihull, West Midlands

Working pattern: Full time, on site 5 days per week

Pay: £60,000 to £65,000

Financial Accountant required for a large service-based business who are a global leader in their industry. This position is on a 9 month basis (likely to be extended to 12 months), based in Solihull (fully on-site), and will see you joining a busy team of 10+ finance staff to take ownership of financial reporting, VAT and corporate tax matters.

As the Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities to support the monthly and quarterly reporting cycles. Your tasks will include:

  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, in line with IFRS
  • Maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger and subsidiary accounts
  • Cash flow management, ensuring its efficiency and efficacy
  • Reviewing monthly payroll submissions to the external bureau
  • Variance analysis against budget, forecast and previous year
  • Assisting with the annual audit and supporting audit queries
  • Supporting the monthly management reporting timetable requirements
  • Assisting the Finance Manager and Finance Director with statutory accounts
  • Continuous improvement to implement financial controls and governance
  • Preparation of VAT and corporation tax returns, ensuring payments are made on time
  • Project assistance for the wider finance team, as required on an ad hoc basis

The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, ACCA or CIMA) who has experience working in 'hands-on' environments within financial reporting, tax and/or internal controls.

You'll need to be available to commence work by mid-August, with the contract initially running until April 2027.
