Purpose of the job
You’ll support the Financial Accountant with the year-end accounts and help produce the monthly accounts for the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis, picking up work such as cash flow forecasting, investment accounting, and VAT and lease reconciliations along the way. You’ll also be the Finance Team’s go-to person for Dynamics CRM, working with the Accounts Manager on system developments that affect Finance, including improvements to Acumatica.
Principal Accountabilities
- Year-end delivery: You’ll need to learn fast how our year-end works. It’s an intense period from February through to the end of external audit in late April, and you’ll be expected to support the Financial Accountant and resolve issues with minimal supervision.
- Dynamics key user: You’ll understand how Dynamics interacts with our Finance system and how Finance works with Member Services to provide an efficient service to members. You’ll help link the new exam platform into Dynamics and Acumatica, review existing links, help sort issues with Evocos (the event booking add-on within Dynamics), and work with the Accounts Manager on Acumatica system changes.
- Reconciliation and forecasts: You’ll complete key monthly, quarterly and yearly reconciliations – including investments, lease liabilities, cash flow forecasts, accruals and prepayments, and VAT returns – efficiently and to the required timetable.
- Review of first draft monthly accounts: You’ll work with the Finance Transaction Team to produce the monthly accounts efficiently and to the set timetable, act as first reviewer for reasonableness, and work with the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis to produce the final version.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
